National Security

Vote today.

Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.
- Benjamin Franklin

UPDATE: It seems a few people everyone missed the point here. I was most certainly not suggesting that anyone should vote republican, I was trying to point out the foolishness of this advertisement. I do not agree with the patriot act or any forms of government surveillance or arrest that are undertaken without a warrant. I strongly encourage readers to visit EFF’s website to learn more about these bills, and what can be done to stop them.

Reagan quotes are awesome but this ad isn’t even accurate. The Patriot Act was passed unanimously by Democrats as well.

Not sure I have ever seen such a contradiction in my entire life. The Ben Franklin quote is about as Republican as hell is cold. The current Republican administration has done nothing more than convince the people to give up freedom for security.

I’ve just posted an update, you all missed the point. If you read both quotes carefully, and examine the advertisement, you should have figured it out.

    Eli,
I think he is not telling to vote for democrats. He is just pointing out what is wrong with therepublican campagne.
If I understand well it could be a call to vote for an alternative party too.

I generally vote for liberal parties/candidates, but either way, I would never tell anyone how to vote.

For what it’s worth, I got it before seeing the update. Not that it isn’t possible but not many contributers to OSS I know skew red. Must be something about the socialist practices of giving stuff away for the greater good.
