**Free Culture**

I watched Larry Lessing’s free culture presentation for the first time today (posted by Nat Freidman). It is an amazing presentation, anyone who uses technology-in any form-should watch it.

For those of you that don’t understand why I, and many other people, choose to use linux as well as other free software - this is one of the main reasons.

**Firefox Extensions**

I started using a few *awesome* Firefox extensions recently:

* Download Statusbar - Displays downloads at the bottom of the active window, rather than opening a new one.
* AdBlock Plus - An enhanced version of the AdBlock advertisment blocker extension with more features
* Adblock Fliterset.G Updater - One of the problems with AdBlock is that it is near impossible to explain to a non-geek how to add filters properly. This updater automatically populates the AdBlock filter list with well-written regex rules so everyone can enjoy an advertisment-free internet.

I find it very strange that the “free culture presentation” requires Shockwave. It’s like requiring bikinis for a feminists’s congress (and there is not even a plugin for my system)

I agree with Dirk-Jan C. Binnema. It’s a really great presentation from Larry, and i really like what he says about free culture and free software. But it looks really strange if he talks about free culture and free software and all he offers is mp3, flash, and powerpoint-slides.. -> http://lessig.org/freeculture/
