Don’t like Dell’s price? Just reload the page!

This is something I actually came across a while ago, but never got around to blogging it. With the recent news of Dell’s Open PC Costs More Than Windows Box it seemed like I might as well stop putting it off.

Here is a set of screenshots, taken not more than minutes apart in both Firefox and Epihpany of the exact same URL, note the price:

Every time I reloaded the page I got a different price! I even got different prices based on what browser I was using, however it was unclear if this was completly random or actually based on cookies. At one point I was even redirected to a completly different product!

I don’t know if this is still true with dell’s website, I have not visited it since.

In the screenshots the items have different names too, one has 2001 in it’s name and one 2005.

You’re not the only one. I got it all day. Then new products appeared, then dispeared. I saved my cart came back and then the items changed price. I went to change them and the price dropped. Its werid. I think they might be breaking because its ASP.NET.
