How to not write software

This could also be entitled “Why I hate Microsoft software”:

Uh, I guess I’ll restart?

wow their demanding, cant even restart later. Bah i remember there being a hack (for windows) that makes it so things like that wont force a restart. its probly easyer on Linux though. If microsoft acts itself it will bring a dozen programs down under with it.

This stupidity isn’t limited to Microsoft. I’ve seen it in plenty of apps. The worst offenders just outright reboot the system without bothering to ask.

And then there are the apps that ask if you were certain you wanted to exit, and that you were certain about clicking Yes in response to the confirmation…

In MSN’s case, the best response, of course, is to write them and ask them if it’s really necessary to disallow postponed restart.

We know about this issue and we don’t like it either… The problem is, your system is in an unstable state until you do restart. So we really do need it to happen right away.

I can’t say if it will be fixed in the next release or not (I don’t even know at this point). But believe me it’s on our radar.

Ctrl+Shift+Esc and kill the process seems like an alternative.

Well, I fully agree with your comment. :-)

BTW: I visited your blog earlier today and I just wanted to congratulate you on a well presented, and informative resource.

It’s not often that I come across a web site that offers a wealth of quality. ;-)

if you go with the killing process way, you may end up having to completely reinstall your windows
