Datacenter Cleanup

We are (finally) getting around to cleaning up the datacenter in my office. There was so much crap piled on the floor you could not walk to the other end of the room.

I got really sick of trying to maintain a photo gallery. Having to manually upload photos, catagorize them, set names, etc. is a big pain. All I wanted was to drag my photos over to my server using nautilus and have them be accessible to the web, and obviously mod_autoindex wasn’t quite sufficiant.

I helped Wade out with the GUI for his image recovery program. It is a very good example of how to write a Gtk# application that runs some background task but still need to let the user know what’s going on and keeping the UI responsive.

I did not watch the Superbowl today and have no idea who won. I am very proud of this fact.
I did, however, watch the new episode of “The Simpsons” as well as the “preview episode” of “American Dad”, which is a new comedy coming in a month or two from the creators of “Family Guy”. [...]

Comcast ‘outage’

Tonight at around 12:30 everbody on my contact list who has Comcast cable internet in the North Seattle area lost connectivity (including myself) for about 30 seconds. I wonder what happened.
