VoIP Fun

So I finally got around to playing around with some VoIP stuff. I set up Asterisk, a really cool open-source PBX system that runs on Linux and a Linux softphone called SJphone.

I integrated Asterisk with with a few free services:

  • FreeWorldDialup - A free SIP-based VoIP network that offers free domestic PSTN US calls!
  • e164.org - A DNS-style registry of Asterisk users
  • IAXTEL - A free VoIP network of Asterisk users

The easiest way for YOU to jump on the VoIP bandwagon is to sign up with FWD, using their Quck-Start Guide and pre-configured copy of the x-lite SIP softphone.

I can be contacted at:

IAXTEL: 1-700-894-9276
FWD: 435886
e164.org:	88299-000480-00
Direct SIP:	sip:102@extremeboredom.net

If you want to try an IAX2 or H323 connection let me know and we can try getting it to work.

    Hello,

Could you tell me how you do to use the e164.org 88299…
I registered my server with IAX (it is an asterisk) in e164.org and add a guest in iax.conf but I don’t see anything in the log.
